Congratulations! You've just made your first step to ...

BEING SCAMMED !!!
12 people have been fooled so far ...
but thankfully we're here to help you stop the scammers.

Be aware

Scams like these prey on people’s greed and curious nature, but also their desperation for additional income. People are especially likely to fall victim to the scams in desperate social and financial situations; the scams seem to offer an easy way out. There are many scams already out there, in magazines, newspapers, on the internet and on flyers like you have read or received.

Potential victims

Newcomers fall prey to new “exciting” opportunities. The sick, disabled, or elderly may have had problems getting a traditional job, and the scams offer easy solutions. The housewife or “stay at home Mother” may be looking to earn money while still looking after children at home, and a family on low or no-Income may feel desperate and anxious to find work.

Identifying scams

Sometimes these scams are easy to spot, other times not so.
  • Use common sense: If it looks too good to be true (£25 an hour for “typing”), it usually is.
  • Beware of any job that demands you give them any money up-front, you may never see it again.
  • Home working scammers seldom tell you what is involved, or are very vague.
  • “No training is necessary” is another selling point, realistically employers want skilled workers.
  • “Be your own boss” is another commonly used scammer phrase, why would someone employ you for you to direct yourself?

"You very rarely get something for nothing. You will not earn the money most scams advertise with little/no training and/or knowledge of the industry you will be working in." (source: Work Wise UK)

"In one case a client from West Yorkshire saw an advert in a national newspaper offering ‘home-working from the comfort of your own home’. She paid an initial payment of £29 for her starter pack and then a further £99. She has never heard back from the company and is unable to get through to anyone to claim back the money she has paid."
